From the City of Santa Cruz

4 Days  3 Nights

 

1th Day

At  8:00 we pick you up to take you to the town of  Concepcion located about  295  kilometros from Santa Cruz

During this trip, and about 40 kilometers after leaving  Santa Cruz, we passed through several small towns of people from the highlands of Bolivia (Altiplano) and also we pass close by some Mennonite colonies.

This trip is across a vast agricultural area, where the main production is the Soya, sunflower and other grains in smaller amounts.

Here,  about 30 km from the city of Santa Cruz, you can see  the relentless advance of the agricultural frontier.

During this tour we will stop in San Javier, a town with 12,000 inhabitants and 542 meters on sea level

In San Javier most people are or have large native background.

This town was founded in 1691 by the Jesuits. In this town we visit the mission church and museum in the company of a guide .

He or She will  show us different parts of the church, telling us about contruccion of the missions and the methodology used by the Jesuits to implement the changes in the Chiquitania  and their area of influence.

The guide will give us also details of the restoration projects for the Jesuit Missions

Lunch at San Javier or perhaps earlier. Depending on how this trip has been   developing.

After San Javier we go to the another missional town. Concepcion, which is located about 60 km more on the way. Its elevation is 534 meters.  And has about 15,000 inhabitants most of whom also descendants of the Zamucos or others trbes that were brought here against their will, to found this jesuit reduction

Concepcion was founded in 1708, with the Zamucos and ten others different tribes. Each one of these tribes used to worship  different gods all of them represented in the nature of the forest.

In Concepcion in  company of  a guide, we visit the church and the two museums  which are  larger than the one in  San Javier. Here too, the guide will give you a detailed explanation of the
exhibiting object.  And also  an explanation of the restoration work of the Jesuit churches.  if possible we also visit the wooden work shop

2nd Day

After breakfast, we may stop at the church one more time  for some more  photos with a different sunshine angle

Continuing our  trip to San Ignacio de Velasco, still  171 km away,  which means about 3 or 4 hours because the  bad road conditions.

Lunch will be at a simple small restaurant on the road.  With only one or two meals to choose from

Arriving at San Ignacio, and after being accommodated in your rooms, we visit the interior of church. Because the next part of the morning and afternoon it  is closed. Or the visit to this church  may be  part of the activities the next day. Always depending on the time available in this 2nd day of travel.

San Ignacio´s  church  was redesigned and changed in its entirety in 1998. Although still keep some original  wood work

San Ignacio de Velasco is the only church of the Jesuit Missions of Chiquitos that was not  declared world heritage by  UNESCO.


Dinner and overnight in San Ignacio.

3th Day

After breakfast and early in the morning, we start the tour of the Mission Circuit, by a dirt road. It may take about 4 hours

This circuit has a distance of approximately 152 km. The missional towns  that we visit today are;  San Miguel, San Rafael and Santa Ana. These three churches may look smaller  than those previously visited but  contain much of the original work of the missionary era.

In San Miguel besides visting the church we may go to  the wooden and craft shop  of the village, so you can  buy some souvenirs

During the course of the circuit, Lunch is in one of these small towns or in San Ignacio. This depends on the development of the trip so far.

Back to San Ignacio. This day we need to  return to the town of Concepcion, on the same road by which we come. The returning time may take about 4 hours

Dinner and overnight in Concepcion


4th Day

After breakfast,  will have the opportunity to visit somewhere near this town.Then we must drive back to the city of Santa Cruz

Lunch at San Javier or  San Ramon, this depends on how you feel and how   our itinerary is going

Our return journey o the city of Santa Cruz will be on the same high way.  It may take approximately 5 hours.

Arriving at final destination around 15:00 hours.

3 Days 2 Nights

1st Day
At 8:00 A.M. we will pick you up to take you to the town of San Ignacio located 476 kilometers away (767.74 miles)

This town is on 530 meters above sea level and it has around 30.000 inhabitants. About half of this trip will be done on a paved road, passing by several towns and villages of  people that moved from the high lands of bolivia to the low lands of santa Cruz. Also on the way we may see some  Mennonites´colonies.

This trip is crossing an agricultural area, which grows soybean, sunflower, and several other types of grains. There, we can also realize the relentless advance of the agricultural frontier from 30 Kilometers (48.38 Miles) off Santa Cruz. The trip to San Ignacio takes approximately 9 hours.

On the way we will stop in San Javier with 12.00 inhabitants and on 542 meters on sea level. In San Javier, a town with indigenous background, founded in the year 1691 by the Jesuits.

Here we visit its famous Jesuit church and the museum in company of a specialist guide.

Lunch would be in San Javier or before.

Dinner in San Ignacio and overnight in San Ignacio.

2nd Day
After breakfast in San Ignacio we will start our trip along missional circuit, visiting the Jesuit churches, in the small towns San Miguel, San Rafael and Santa Ana.

These churches are the ones that most hold the original work of the Tribes and Jesuit missionaries.

This part of the Missionary journey is 152 kilometers (245.16 Miles) on a road without pavement and it would take about 4 hours.

Lunch in one of these small towns.

In San Ignacio we also visit its Church. This church is not the same as it was constructed by the native people and the Jesuits. But it keeps inside the altarpieces and other things of the time.

After lunch we will continue our trip to the town of Concepción along the same path that we got, passing by several small villages of indigenous people.

Concepcion is on 534 meters above sea level and it has around 15.000 inhabitants of largely Zamucos´ background that with other tribes were gathered here by the Jesuits Missioners. Although there are also people of foreign background.

This town was founded by the Jesuits in the year 1708 with 10 different tribes, each of these tribes then spoke different languages and worship different gods, each of these gods represented the nature.

The trip will take approximately 3 hours. We will have dinner in Concepción.

Overnight in Concepcion

3rd Day

After breakfast, with a specialist guide. we will visit, the church of Concepcion and its two museums.

The guide will tell us about the retauration process and other importante details jesuits´ time

We also may visit some souvenir shops and other places of interest.

We will have lunch in San Javier this will depend on how our itinerary is going. After lunch we will drive back to Santa Cruz.

The trip will take approximately 5 hours. We will reach Santa Cruz about 16:00 hours.

One in Santa Cruz we take  you to your place.

Public Transportation

From The City of Santa Cruz

1 Night + 2 Days 1 night

1st Night

At 18:30 we meet at the office of Amboro Tours to go  to board in a public service vehicle with destination to San Ignacio de Velasco, located 476 kilometers away (767.74 miles).

This town is on 530 over sea level and it has around of 30.000 inhabitants.

The trip to San Ignacio takes approximately 9 hours. WE will be arriving in early hours of the morning.

After a shower and breakfast in San Ignacio, we will start our trip along the mission circuit in an express vehicle. With a specialized guide we will visit the Jesuit churches, in the small towns San Miguel, San Rafael and Santa Ana.

These churches are the ones that most hold the original work of the Tribes and Jesuit missionaries.

This  Missionary circuit is a  journey is 152 kilometers (245.16 Miles) by a road without pavement and it will take about 4 hours.

Lunch will be in one of these small towns.

In San Ignacio we also try to visit the Church. This church is not the same as it was constructed by the native people and the Jesuits. But it keeps inside the altarpieces and other things of the time.

In the afternoon or at early hours of the evening we will take a public transportation with the destination to the Town of Concepción.

Along the road (the same way to Santa Cruz) we are going to pass one more time through many communities but this time it will be during day hours

When Concepcion was founded by the Jesuits in the year 1708 with more than 10 different tribes, each of these tribes then spoke different languages and worship different gods, each of these gods represented the nature.

The trip to Concepcion takes approximately 4 hours.

Dinner along the road or in Concepcion.

We will spend the night in a hotel at Concepcion.

2nd Day

After breakfast, we will visit, with a specialist guide, the church of Concepcion and its  two museums which are  bigger than the one in San Javier.

There, the guide will tell us about the restoration process done in the churches of these missions. Asw ell, a detailed explanation of the exposed objects.

If we have time, we also may visit some souvenir shops.

We have to take a public transportation about midday to go to San Javier, this trip will be done on a paved road. It will take approximately 1 1/2 hours

Lunch in San Javier.

San Javier has 12.000 inhabitants and is on 542 meters over sea level with a great indigenous background, founded in the year 1691 by the Jesuits.

There, we will visit its famous Jesuit church and the museum in company of another guide, who will explain us some details of the work done by the natives and the Jesuits.

The guide will take you to the bus´office with destination the city of Santa Cruz
