A Short Description of  Titicaca Lake

Lake Titicaca is the second largest in the world and the highest navigable lake in the world, with an area of 8562 km2, Bolivia has less than half and the rest belongs to Peru.

This lake has two sides north and south. The north side is called the Maggiore Lake or Chucuito the greater depth in this part reaches 283 meters. The south side known as the Lago Menor or Huiñamarca reaches only 45 meters deep.

The lake in general is at an altitude of 3810 meters above sea level. The water of this lake is generally transparent and blue with an exceptional quality of light. The weather has a great variation, during the day reaches 25 C centigrade and at night it is almost always cold. The water of this lake is a little salty.
