A Short Description of Eduardo Avaroa National Park

This salar also known under the name of Salar de Tunupa is located southwest of Bolivia, with an area of 12,000 km2 and a height of 3700 meters above sea level. It is considered the largest in the world.

The layer of salt is about 6 meters thick it is estimated that El Salar de Uyuni is a reserve of 10,000,000,000 million tons of salt, of which 25,000 are extracted every year.

This place is regarded as the rest of a sea that existed in the place millions of years ago.

The best time of year to visit this place is the months from July to November. During this month, the salt becomes a breeding place for South American Flamingos.

The Salt Lake also has giant cactus till 10 meters in height. The different colors of the ponds are another attraction of this place.
